Laval is a Legends of Chima minifigure released in 2013. He is the theme's main protagonist and a member of the Lion Tribe. Laval is a feature in building, Speedorz, and Construction Figure sets. Aside from Legends of Chima: The Animated Series which chronicles his adventures, Laval also appeared in his own video game, entitled LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey, as well as a brief cameo in Legends of Chima Online.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Laval was born to Lagravis and an unknown female lion, the rulers of the Lion Tribe. His mother disappeared shortly after his birth under unknown circumstances. Laval also had an uncle named Lavertus who was exiled around a year after he was born.
Later in his life, Laval met the princes of the other tribes, whom he became close friends with, especially the Crocodile prince, Cragger, who he frequently hang out with. He also became close friends with the Eagle princess, Eris.
Cragger's Corruption[]
One day, Cragger asked Laval to show him something exiting, to wich Laval led him to the Lion Temple. They came across the Chi Pool and Cragger became interested in the Chi. Despite Laval's protests, Cragger pocked an orb of Chi from the pool and became corrupted by it, due to using it before his Age of Becoming. Cragger then fled the temple.
Soon after, the rulers of the Crocodile Tribe and Cragger's parents, Crominus and Crunket visited the Lion Temple and confronted Laval and Lagravis over the recent events, before leaving.
Civil War[]
However, Cragger's actions caused a battle at the fangs beetween the Lions and Crocodiles. In the climax, Cragger's parents, Crominus and Crunket fell into the Gorge of Eternal Depth. Though they survived, they were presumed dead.
These events caused a full on civil war to break out beetween the tribes that would last for months, with the Eagles, Gorillas and Bears supporting the Lions, while the Wolves, Ravens and Beavers joined the Crocodiles.
Age of Becoming[]
At Laval's coming of age ceremony where he was to place CHI in his chest for the first time, the Lion CHI Temple where the Lions made their home was attacked by the Crocodiles and their allies, the Wolves and Ravens. Laval chased after their new leader on a Speedor and dueled with him, stopping when he realized it was Cragger.
Battling Aganist Cragger[]
After many battles won for Laval, he shows him mercy, but Cragger throws Laval into the nearby water. Laval began to drown, but was rescued by a Lion Legend Beast, animals of great power who never drank CHI and left Chima long ago.
Laval rode the beast back to the battle, which the Eagles and Gorillas had now joined, on the side of the Lions. Nonetheless, the lions were losing horribly, and when Cragger comes to his senses, Crooler hypnotizes him again. The Beast roared and the fighting stopped as all present bowed down to it, except for Cragger. He plugged an orb of CHI into his chest and charged at the beast, only to be swatted away. Using the orb of CHI that Cragger dropped, Laval was able to defeat the Crocodile King and forced his troops to retreat.
Quest for the Legend Beasts[]
Before venturing into the Outlands, Laval and the other heroes stopped by the Lion City as Lagravis reminisced about everything that had happen since the battle at The Fangs. Undeterred by his fathers words however, Laval inspired his friends and raced out of the Lion Temple.
The heroes met up with Crunket at the Outlands edge where she revealed that the Crawlers had been created using the Chi Laval threw into the Gorge of Eternal Depth months prior.
Laval awoke on the fifth day to find that Cragger and Worriz had left in the middle of the night and were captured by the Crawlers. Yet before they could set off to rescue them however, Lavertus presented the remaining heroes with new and upgraded weapons. To Laval he gave a pair of Chi powered grenades and his Black Valious sword. However, when Laval encouraged the exiled lion to join them, Lavertus refused and stormed off.
The other heroes went ahead anyway, with Laval riding the Crocodile Legend into battle. Though a strong defense awaited them at the entrance of the Scorpion Cave, they managed to push through and make it past the speedor battalion lead by Scorm. When they reached the caves interior, Laval rushed over and handed the Crocodile Legend over to Cragger and the newly freed King Crominus. Under heavy fire, the heroes rushed to take refuge behind the statue of the Great Scorpion. It was then that Cragger, in an effort to turn the Crawlers against each other, revealed that it was Laval who dropped the Chi into the gorge and created them. Laval attempted to use the distraction to storm into the cave holding the Lion Legend, but the other Chima heroes, agahst that Laval hadn't told them he was responsible for this threat, refused to follow him. The Lion charged anyway avoiding heavy fire from the Crawlers, yet he managed to make it into the cave.
After recovering from being thrown to the ground by a blast from the scorpions, Laval ventured inside the cave to find the Lion Legend trapped on a small rock surrounded by water, the lion's greatest weakness. Laval pulled out the last Chi orb, but the Lion Legend informed him he had to use his inner-Chi. Using Cragger's advise about water from a few days prior, Laval jumped into the water and managed to swim to the Lion Legend. Once there, he managed to convince the Lion Legend to swim as well and the two returned to the main cave where the heroes were engaged in a fierce battle with the remaining Crawlers. The heroes managed to escape the collapsing cave alive, but only due to Lavertus arriving and sacrificing himself to save them. At the cave's entrance Laval confronted Scorm and gave him their final orb of Chi before the entrance fully collapsed.
The heroes returned to Chima where they were welcomed home and Laval was reunited with his father. Crominus then revealed that it was in fact him who was responsible for Lavertus's exile.
Attack of the Ice Hunters[]
Following the defeat of the Crawlers, Chima enjoyed a short era of peace. During that time, Laval was given his uncle's journal by Rinona, which he spent hours reading. He returned to the Outlands with the other Chima heroes several times in an effort to turn Lavertus's home into a museum to honor the fallen Lion.
Laval was gifted a new tank by his father and spent hours playing with Cragger, neglecting Eris, who had recently been having strange visions of fire. He participated in the monthly market day race, but crashed when he and Cragger lost control of their Speedorz while attempting to use Chi. That night, he and Cragger held a bonfire at the Forever Rock where the warriors found themselves debating how Chima came to be.
Shortly thereafter, Laval was visited by Eris at the Lion Temple who claimed that a wave of "whiteness" was spreading across Chima. Laval at first attributed it to her dreams, but Cragger and Crooler arrived then in the helicrocter with news that their swamp had been frozen. Laval proceeded to rally the tribes and they marched to the Crocodile Swamp where they battled the Hunters for the first time. They soon found that they were no match for their enemies' ice powers and were forced to retreat.
The trio pursued the Hunters into the night and by the next morning, they reached the crocodile swamp when their Fire Chi ran out. Laval met up with his father and the two returned to the lion city together, discussing the story before the great story. When Eris returned with a few more orbs of Fire Chi, she informed him that Fluminox had ordered them to guard the Crescent with the other heroes if they were to receive any more of the orbs. Laval summoned the others and they arrived at the hill only to find the Hunters advancing. Laval and Sir Fangar charged into battle on their speedorz and though Stealthor tired to distract the lion using exploding ice plants, the lion won.
After locating another fire wing in the Sanctuary Forest, Cragger and Laval continued to the Rhino quarry to meet up with Tormak and Li'ella just as they located the seventh fire wing. After the two left to attend to another matter, Cragger and Laval set off towards the Forever Rock. On their way, Laval noticed the destroyed Lion City and the ice tower climbing towards Mount Cavora. The lion insisted they head over there, but Cragger reminds them of their mission at hand. Just then, they noticed the bears, now awake and with battle mechs, marching towards the city. Reassured by the reinforcements, the two journeyed to the Forever Rock where Eris located the final fire wing. They trio then summoned the other five warriors and, after Laval gave an inspirational speech, they all donned Fire Wings and flew to Cavora. While they were at first stopped by the vultures, the eight heroes managed to make it into the mountain in time for Flinx to control the Illumination. Afterwards, as the phoenix ascended into the sun and the tribes below celebrated, Laval reflected on what he saw as Chima.
Chima at Peace[]
Christmas Celebration[]
Not long adter the defeat of the Hunters, Laval attended a Christmas themed celebration, where he, and several other inhabitants of Chima watched a decorated tree made out of Golden Chi.
Visitors from Another Realm[]
As Laval and his friends were enjoying a relaxing day, a portal opened behind them and Lloyd Garmadon and Morro dropped out of it, alerting Laval and his friends. They turned around to see the pair fighting over the Realm Crystal. As Laval asked where the two came from, Morro opened another portal and they left. much to the heroes' shock.

Trivia[]
- Laval is the only main protaganotist of the Lego original series to not to be corrupted by his enemies (Lloyd Garmadon was posessed by Morro and Clay Moornington was corrupted by Monstrox).
- However, if Chima would have continued for more years, it might have taken on a darker tone like Ninjago. This could have included Laval getting corrupted.
- It's worth nothing that Cragger was corrupted instead.
